Solar standards at Summer Ridge and Klahanie

Summer Ridge’s solar installation standards say “Every two years, the owner is responsible to clean under the solar panels to avoid any accumulation of debris and remove potential insect nests and remove potential rodent infestation.” Klahanie’s guidelines, revised May 2024, say “Any solar system must be maintained in good condition or they will be required to be removed.” The text does not say what good condition includes. Klahanie’s guidelines also say solar energy systems “must not be installed above the roof line.” Summer Ridge’s standards call for panels “installed a minimum of 12 inches from the roof line using the lowest practical (3 inches minimum) risers.” They also say “Solar systems should be installed only on roofs with a minimum of 15 years life remaining.” These are the standards of two communities.

Solarize Eastside and who owns the homes

The City’s event pages listed free Solarize Eastside community workshops at City Hall for April 23 and May 28, 2025. The City’s environment page says enrollment ended July 4, 2025. Of the 22,144 occupied housing units in the Census Bureau’s ACS 2020-2024 estimates for Sammamish, 18,280 are owner-occupied.

Aldarra-Montaine, Sahalee, Eastlake and the lakeshore

The City’s comp plan says the Aldarra-Montaine annexation brought in 113.31 acres with a population of 841, effective July 10, 2010. The City says Northeast Sammamish Park is “located at the main entrance to Sahalee.” East Sammamish Park is a 19-acre park next to Margaret Mead Elementary School. Eastlake High School and the Eastlake Community Fields share an address on 228th Avenue NE, and the City says the fields exist through cooperation with the Lake Washington School District. Sammamish Landing Park, the City says, is the only public property along Lake Sammamish’s shoreline within the city limits. Its address is on East Lake Sammamish Parkway NE.
