The Town’s solar arrays
The Town’s Sustainable Energy Production page says “the Town has seven solar arrays located on municipal properties”. It says Chatham owns and operates the installations at the water pollution control facility and the water treatment plant, and that five more, at the landfill, fire department, police department, town annex and community center, are operated through partnerships with the Cape & Vineyard Electric Cooperative. The Cooperative’s project table lists dates in its column headed Commercial Operation or Status for Chatham Capped Landfill (9.29.14), Chatham Police Station and Chatham Town Hall Annex (8.30.14), Chatham Fire Station (1.1.2020) and Chatham Recreation Center (12.23.25). A December 27, 2011 MassDEP letter approved post-closure use of the Chatham landfill for a 1.9 megawatt solar array.
