Gardens Aglow at Heritage Museums & Gardens

The 2026 page from Heritage Museums & Gardens calls Gardens Aglow “a celebration of lights that has become a treasured holiday tradition”. It lists the dates “November 27-29”, “December 2-6”, “December 8-13”, “December 15-23” and “December 26-27”. The museum’s FAQ says “Gardens Aglow takes place from 4:30-8:30 pm on the following dates”.

Holly Days in Sandwich

The Sandwich Chamber of Commerce describes Holly Days as “Three weeks of shopping, carol singing, concerts, visits with Santa, Gingerbread contest, jingle jog, village stroll & more”. That is the Chamber’s own wording for its event.

Holiday lights in the zoning by-law

Section 3470 of the Town of Sandwich Protective Zoning By-law, in its November 2025 edition, says “the following forms of lighting are prohibited”. The first item is “Lights that outline any part of a structure or strings of lights attached to landscaping elements”, and the same item goes on with “expect temporary traditional decorations for religious or other recognized holidays”, which is the by-law’s own spelling. The section gives no dates for that exception.

Along the Cape Cod Canal

Holiday lighting is available throughout Sandwich, including the Cape Cod Canal end of town, where the Cape Cod Canal Visitor Center is on Ed Moffitt Drive. The Sandwich Marina is on Freezer Road, at the east end of the canal. The Town’s open space plan says about 2 miles of the 14.2 mile Cape Cod Canal Bike Path run through Sandwich. Scusset Beach State Reservation and the Scusset Beach fishing pier on the canal are in the same corner of town. The Geary-Lea Conservation Lands are Town land next to the reservation.

What the job involves

Estimate. Estimates are done on site at no charge.

Install. Lights go on clips along the roofline, with installs continuing through December.

Upkeep. When a strand or section stops working during the season, a crew returns and repairs it. Takedown follows the season, and the lights go into our storage.
