What the Ashburn Village siding guidelines cover

Ashburn Village’s Architectural and Environmental Guidelines, updated June 24, 2025, include sections on siding and color. Installing siding of a different material, style or color needs the association’s prior approval, while replacing exact, existing, approved siding does not. Repainting or re-staining an element in its current color or finish, in a way that blends seamlessly, does not need prior approval either.

Those two sections are about replacement and repainting. The Maintenance Summary near the end of the document says: “Siding must be clean and free of significant warping or bubbling.”

The association also inspects. Its own site says staff carry out inspections of single-family homes and townhomes each year to help ensure properties meet community guidelines. The 2026 inspection schedule splits Ashburn Village into Zones 1 through 11, each with its own list of streets. Look up your street in that schedule to see which zone you are in.

Other communities, other wording

The Courts and Ridges of Ashburn puts the duty on the owner. Its architectural guidelines, revised in July 2024, say owning a property includes responsibility for maintaining all structures and grounds on it, including structural maintenance (paint among it). The guidelines call violations of that standard violations of the covenants. Its list of potential items evaluated in inspections includes “Siding – Stains or damaged/missing sections.”

Brambleton is a separate Census place nearby, not part of Ashburn, but its inspection guidelines are public. They say inspections look at properties as seen from public streets, adjacent lots and common areas, and the scope includes the condition of siding and trim along with paint or stain integrity.

Each of these is one association’s own document, and your association’s current version is the one that counts. Nothing above says any of them requires soft washing.
