Roofs in state, plan and UC pages

California’s list of low-cost home retrofits, the one the City’s Fire Prevention page links to, says “When it is time to replace your roof, replace it with a Class A fire-rated roof.” That sentence is about replacing a roof, not cleaning one.

The El Camino Real Specific Plan says “Roofs shall be light-colored or vegetated in order to reflect rather than absorb solar heat.” The plan covers its own plan area, and the sentence says nothing about cleaning.

The UC Statewide IPM Program page on algae, lichens and mosses says the growths it describes can occur in moist, shady spots, naming “decks, pavement, and roofs”. The page is statewide in scope and does not mention Encinitas.

Leucadia, by the City’s lists

The City lists Leucadia as one of the five communities that formed Encinitas. Its park list includes Leucadia Oaks Park at 1511 N Vulcan Ave, Las Verdes Park at 1390 Paseo De Las Verdes, Hawk View Park at 1309 Blue Heron Avenue and Olympus Park at 701 Olympus Street. Leucadia Roadside Park is listed at 860 North Coast Highway 101. Fire Station 3 is at 801 Orpheus Avenue. The City’s planning page lists a North 101 Corridor Specific Plan, and its walks page starts one route “From the end of Swallowtail Road in Leucadia”.
