Stucco walls and paint colors at McLean Crest
McLean Crest publishes Architectural Guidelines and Standards; the edition labelled Version 2 is dated June 14, 2023, and it includes exterior paint color specifications. One heading in them reads “Rear Stucco Wall Paint Color,” and the notes mention “rear wall window banding.” Those are one community’s paint color specifications, not a McLean standard.

Wood, hardie board and brick in McLean Hamlet’s review criteria
The Architectural Control Committee of the McLean Hamlet Community Association publishes guidelines for reviewing applications to change the outside of an existing home or build a new one, and the copy linked from its site is headed “As of August, 2019.” Above the water table, they list the allowed materials as “wood; simulated wood products such as beveled siding or hardie board; brick and brick veneer.” They also require exterior materials to be of high quality, “better than builder’s standard,” and they extend that to exterior walls, doors, windows, soffits and trim. The document describes itself as a sample of the most common issues and says, “This is not an exhaustive list.” These are approval criteria for changes and new homes. They do not say what any existing Hamlet house is clad in.
Clapboard and painted brick at Langley Fork
In the county’s Langley Fork guidelines, the historic and contributing buildings in the district are described as “typically clapboard-covered or painted brick, with simple massing and few projecting elements.” The label on the document is January 2026 Final Draft, and it applies to that district alone.
A six-year repaint cycle at McLean Mews
The McLean Mews board’s resolution of January 16, 2020 defines trim to include “all siding and fascia boards.” The resolution schedules homes for repainting “on a six year cycle.”
