Moss, in a WSU manual

WSU Extension’s Structural and Turf Demossing Study Manual says that, in the cool, moist Pacific Northwest, moss “may become a problem” around houses, and it names other structures too. It says that if moss is not controlled, “moss will shorten the lifespan of a roof,” and it lists removing overhanging branches that shade the roof among the control measures. The manual covers the region, and it is not about Redmond.

Roofs in two City documents

Among the steps on the City of Redmond’s wildfire list is “Clean roof tops and gutters.” That is advice from the City, and it names no business. Separately, the Town Center design guidelines in the Redmond Zoning Code, read from an archived copy from December 2023, say rooftops in the Town Center design area “will be of a color that reduces glare and other types of visual impact” on adjacent hillsides.

Marymoor Park is, in the City’s words, a regional park of 640 acres located in Redmond and operated by King County Parks. Idylwood Park sits on the northwestern shore of Lake Sammamish, per the City. The City lists Sammamish Valley among its ten neighborhoods.
