The City’s own solar array
The City of Fairfield says it “has completed its first large-scale renewable energy project: a 1.5-megawatt solar array at the Wastewater Treatment Plant on Groh Lane.” The City says the array includes nearly 3,000 solar panels. WVXU reported on January 12, 2026 that Fairfield was breaking ground that Monday on the five-acre array.

The same article says installing a solar energy system requires building permits and inspections from the City’s Building Division. The City’s 2024 sustainability plan lists an action to “Implement streamlined permitting process for solar installations.”
