A landfill approval and an airport notice
A December 27, 2011 letter from MassDEP “Approves the Post-Closure Use of the Landfill for a 4 megawatt (MW) solar photovoltaic (PV) array subject to conditions” at the Barnstable Municipal Landfill on Flint Street. The letter describes “Approximately 15,262 PV modules” on about 800 racks. On January 21, 2014, the Federal Aviation Administration published notice that it was considering a proposal to change 53.55 acres of airport land in Hyannis from aeronautical to non-aeronautical use, to lease for solar arrays.
