Solar in Flint, from Kettering to UM-Flint

An archived copy of Kettering University’s news page for June 11, 2020 describes a video about how the university “merged art and science to install three environmentally-friendly solar trees on its campus”, and the university lists its address as 1700 University Avenue. A 2014 article in the Michigan Journal of Sustainability, by two University of Michigan-Flint authors, describes a rooftop array of 11 panels on a Flint house that includes a classroom space for the university. On September 24, 2025, WEMU reported on the University of Michigan’s solar project, due for completion in 2028 on the Ann Arbor, Dearborn and Flint campuses. In April 2018, Michigan Public reported that Mott Community College would use a grant from Cypress Creek Renewables to help develop a solar energy training program. Those are the universities’, the college’s and the station’s statements, not ours.

The City’s Parks Plan names Whaley Park, Rollingwood Park, Longway Park, Delaware Park, Amos Park, Polk Park, Cook Park, Woodlawn Park and Brennan Park.
