Solar in Hamilton’s zoning ordinance

The City’s zoning ordinance, revised through August 15, 2026, says “All solar arrays require review and permit approval from the Building Department and the Infrastructure Department Field Services Division.” It says a solar array “affixed to the home (roof mounted or wall mounted) does not need to be screened.” On historic structures and homes in historic districts, it says roof and wall mounted arrays “require ADRB (Architectural Design Review Board) approval.” The word “solar” does not appear in the Board’s own guidelines.
