Lighting your house for a Vancouver December
In 2025, the Vancouver Rotary Club held its Community Tree Lighting in Esther Short Park on Friday, November 28, with the tree lighting set for 6 p.m., in the listing’s words, “to officially ring in the holiday season.” The city’s listing that year said the park’s holiday lights would keep glowing until New Year’s Day.
The river has a tradition of its own. In the city’s words, each December the Columbia River shimmers with reflections of holiday lights as the Christmas Ships Parade sails past the Vancouver Waterfront. The 2025 listing called the parade a local tradition for nearly 70 years, set it for the evening of Monday, December 8, and said it was most visible from Vancouver Waterfront Park, Grant Street Pier and the Waterfront Renaissance Trail.
If you want your own roofline glowing through that stretch of the year, that’s the job we do.

How we work
Cut to your rooflines. We use professional-grade LED strands, white or multicolor, and cut each strand to the length of the roofline it follows.
Clips and weather-rated connections. Everything is held on with clips, and nothing is nailed or screwed into the house. The connections are weather-rated. NOAA’s 1991–2020 normals for Portland International Airport list December (5.77 inches) and November (5.45 inches) as the two wettest months of that station’s year.
Kept lit, then taken down. Should a strand or section go dark in the middle of the season, call and we’ll come back out to fix it. After the season, the crew takes the whole display down.
LED strands and your outdoor outlets
In its November 2017 customer newsletter, Clark Public Utilities said LED holiday lights use 90 percent less electricity than traditional holiday lights, last longer, and create very little heat, which reduces the risk of starting a fire. That same 2017 issue told customers not to overload electrical outlets with holiday lights and other devices, and to make sure outdoor outlets have ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) protection.
Timing your Christmas light installation: Vancouver holiday season
The ideal time to book is early fall, so the install can happen before the season gets going. Late November is a sensible target if you want the lights on for most of the season.
Later calls are welcome too. We install through December, so a display that goes up mid-month still has the rest of the holidays ahead of it.
Where we hang lights
We handle Christmas light installation in Battle Ground, Camas, La Center, Ridgefield and Washougal, as well as in Vancouver, Cascade Park, Felida, Salmon Creek and Hazel Dell. We light businesses as well as homes. If you’re unsure whether we reach your street, call and ask.
Your questions about holiday light installation in Vancouver
Do I own the lights?
No. We lease them to you: the lights remain ours, and you pay per season. Between seasons, they sit in our storage.
Will anything be nailed into my house?
No. The lights go up with clips only, with no nails or screws.
What should I do with my old light strings?
Keep them out of the recycling cart. The City of Vancouver says unwanted lights will tangle on the sorting machinery, and its Seasonal Programs page lists places that take them instead.
Is the crew on my roof insured?
Yes. Each of our crews has general liability and workers’ comp insurance, and we can provide a certificate if you ask for one.
We look at the house before recommending anything, and the estimate is free. You can request a free estimate online, or learn more about our holiday lighting installation service.
