A village center that calls itself master planned

Bethany Village’s own site calls the Village “a carefully designed master planned community” and says it is “centered around a spectacular fountain and intimate amphitheater.” The Village gives NW Bethany Boulevard and NW Laidlaw Road as its street addresses. That is the Village’s own description.

Ground-floor glass on North Bethany’s Main Street

In its November 2024 edition, the County’s North Bethany Subarea Plan sets standards for its Main Street district. Ground-floor windows and glass doors must cover at least 60 percent of the ground-floor wall along NW Kaiser Road in that district, and nonresidential ground-floor windows “must have a visible transmittance of 0.6 or higher,” except medical and dental offices, which “may have tinted windows.”

Those are design standards for buildings in that planned district. They do not describe the glass on any building already standing, and they endorse no company.

Bethany Library is on NW Central Drive, and the library system says it opened in 2007 in the Bethany Village Shopping Center. Stoller Middle School stands on NW Laidlaw Road, and Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue’s Fire Station 68 is on NW Evergreen Street.
