Before and after holiday lighting installation by Clearly Amazing

Our crews install holiday lighting for Hillsboro homes and businesses out of the Portland / Tigard office. What goes up is professional-grade LED in white or multicolor, cut to fit the roofline and attached with clips only. The lights themselves are leased by the season and stay ours, and they spend the off-season in our storage. Connections are weather-rated.

Holly Days and the downtown tree

The Hillsboro Downtown Partnership’s Holly Days page says the celebration is “Hosted the Saturday before Thanksgiving, every November in Historic Downtown Hillsboro Oregon.” It lists the 2026 date as November 21, from 2 pm to 7 pm, with the tree lighting at 6 pm. The page also lists the holiday tree making its way down Main Street on Friday, November 13, between 11 am and 1 pm. It says the tree will be decorated by the Hillsboro Downtown Partnership, with the City of Hillsboro sponsoring the decorating. Organizers can change dates, and the tree and the celebration are not ours.

For 2025, the City’s Parks and Recreation page lists Holly Days on Saturday, November 22, from 2 pm to 7 pm, with the tree lighting at 6 pm. A City news item about installing the tree describes a 40-foot-tall tree on the Tom Hughes Civic Center Plaza, and says the Partnership “estimated a record-breaking crowd of 15,000 people attended” the event.

Winter Lights downtown, and the Lightopia show

A City news item of November 17, 2025 says “Hillsboro’s annual Winter Lights are here to brighten the season and illuminate the heart of Downtown Hillsboro’s Cultural Arts District.” It lists “more than 4,500 lights at Shute Park and along Avenida Diez/10th Avenue” among the areas lit. Those displays are not ours.

The Hillsboro News-Times reported on December 4, 2025 that Hillsboro’s free drive-thru holiday light show, Lightopia, was returning that month “for the last time at its current location,” and that it was scheduled to run from December 9 through December 28. The paper says Lightopia launched in 2020. That was the 2025 season, and the show is not ours.

Two Hillsboro communities on holiday decorations

The Reed’s Crossing declaration, recorded in 2018, says no rule shall abridge an owner’s right to display “religious or holiday symbols and decorations of the kinds normally displayed in single-family residential neighborhoods”. Its next sentence leaves room for further limits on such displays, including rules with “reasonable limitations on number and the time period within which they may be displayed, consistent with Oregon law.”

The Orenco Meadows declaration, recorded in 2005, says “Seasonal holiday lighting and decorations are permissible” if consistent with applicable rules and regulations “and if removed within thirty days after the celebrated holiday.” Each of those is one community’s document for its own lots. Later editions are the associations’ to provide, and we do not set or enforce any of it.

A fire department tip and PGE’s outdoor page

The Hillsboro Fire Department’s item “Be Christmas Tree Safe,” posted December 3, 2018, says “Use lights that have the label of an independent testing laboratory.” It is a tree and home safety item from 2018, not a guide for contractors.

Portland General Electric’s Outdoor Safety page says “Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCIs) are a good investment for all outdoor outlets to help protect you from serious injury.” PGE’s page covers outdoor safety in general rather than the holidays, and the wording is PGE’s.

Housing in Hillsboro, counted

Census Bureau figures from the 2024 five-year estimates show Hillsboro with 108,231 residents and 43,576 housing units. Of those units, 5,578 are attached one-unit homes (12.8 percent), 2,973 are in two-to-four-unit buildings (6.8 percent) and 434 are mobile homes. These counts describe housing units and nothing about rooflines.
