Taylor Mill Road and the City’s early years
The City’s history page says “In 1842, the town of Independence, Kentucky was incorporated”. It also says that in 1840 the place was officially named, and describes the 1842 town as “encompassing the block surrounding the Kenton County Courthouse located on Madison Pike”. On annexation, the page says the 1960s addition of the section it calls Cherokee “brought large portions of Taylor Mill Road (KY 16) into the boundaries of the city”.
