The state’s solar interconnection records

As of August 31, 2026, the SDG&E file in the DG Stats data set kept by California’s utilities regulator lists 11,224 interconnected project sites with the service city “SAN MARCOS.” By customer sector, 11,049 are residential, 161 commercial, 9 educational and 5 other government. These are project sites listed under that service-city name, not homes, and the data set says nothing about cleaning.

Palomar College’s solar canopies

A Palomar College news item dated August 6, 2020 says the college activated the largest solar energy system on its San Marcos campus, adding 442 kW, with canopies that “also provide shade across 186 parking spaces.” A quoted staff member in the item says that, combined with the campus’s other arrays, “we’re pretty much at 1 megawatt” of solar generation capacity. That is the college’s own report from that year, and it does not discuss upkeep.

The City’s solar permit pages

The City’s Solar Permits page describes a small rooftop solar system as one that “Produces 10 kilowatts (kW) or less of electricity.” The zoning code says “Solar panels are permitted on roof tops in conjunction with all permitted land uses, and shall be regulated and permitted subject to applicable state law.” Both passages are about permitting panels, and neither mentions cleaning.

Along the Creek District and the main roads

The City calls the area covered by its Creek Specific Plan the Creek District, and places it south of San Marcos Boulevard, east and north of Discovery Street, and west of Grand Avenue. The City’s Visitor Information page names Creekside Marketplace, Nordahl Center and Grand Plaza as shopping hotspots. The City’s Restaurant Row Specific Plan page gives 1020 West San Marcos Boulevard as the location of “Old California Restaurant Row.”
