Where algae turns up, per Oregon State
An OSU Solve Pest Problems page, on mold and last updated June 30, 2022, describes where algae shows up outdoors: on moist surfaces, including “vinyl siding and wooden decks,” and in shady spots such as “the north side of buildings.” OSU wrote that for the region at large. It does not speak to Clackamas houses in particular, and it names no company.

The County’s line on cleaning historic structures
Section 707 of Clackamas County’s Zoning and Development Ordinance is written for designated landmarks, districts and corridors. Among the criteria it lists for major alterations is “The surface cleaning of structures, if appropriate, shall be undertaken using the least damaging or gentlest means possible.” Section 707 does not mention soft washing.
The ordinance applies only to designated properties, and the County decides whether a house is one of them.
A siding entry in the State’s historic sites database
Oregon’s Historic Sites Database has records filed under the city of Clackamas, among them the Adjutant General’s House at Camp Withycombe. The record gives a construction date of 1903, a second date of 1938, a Colonial Revival style and “Shingle” as the primary siding. It is a survey entry, not a statement about the house’s siding or condition today.
Year-built counts for the Clackamas ZIP code
The Census Bureau lists no current place called Clackamas, so the figures here describe a ZIP area, 97015, in the American Community Survey’s 2024 five-year release. Its median year built is 1994. Of its 9,578 housing units, 2,777 date from 2000 onward (29.0 percent), 5,283 from 1980 through 1999 (55.2 percent) and 1,518 from before 1980 (15.8 percent). Those are build years and nothing more. They do not describe any home’s siding.
