RESIDENTIAL SERVICES

Falls Church has been an independent city since 1948, and crews from our Northern Virginia office in Sterling put up holiday lighting for its homes and businesses. We hang professional-grade LED in white or multicolor, with each run cut to your rooflines and secured only by clips. Connections are weather-rated. You pay per season, and the lights remain ours, kept in our storage until the next one.

A Falls Church address is not always the City
The City of Falls Church covers 2.2 square miles, and it was incorporated as a town in 1875 and as an independent city in 1948. Its own community page adds that neither Metro station lies inside the City boundary. The City’s Address Finder says some places with a Falls Church address are in Fairfax County, naming Merrifield, Seven Corners and Bailey’s Crossroads. It also says addresses on Leesburg Pike, Route 7, Arlington Boulevard, Route 50, Lee Highway or Route 29 are likely not within the City.
Its historic conservation district and the events described below all concern the City of Falls Church itself, not Fairfax County.
From A Very Victorian Christmas to Watch Night
The City and Visit Falls Church list A Very Victorian Christmas for Saturday, November 28, 2026, from 10 am to 2 pm at Cherry Hill Farmhouse, 312 Park Avenue. It is free, hosted by the Victorian Society of Falls Church, and the City’s page describes period decorations, music and carols.
Visit Falls Church lists Winter Wonderland in The Little City for Tuesday, December 1, 2026, from 5:30 to 7 pm at The Market Square at Modera Founders Row, 110 Founders Avenue, with free admission. Its description is a free evening of holiday lights, live performances, treats and activities, including Santa’s arrival by firetruck. The Falls Church News-Press wrote in November 2025 that this event began as a tree lighting ceremony to switch on the festive lights in the trees lining West Broad Street. The City’s calendar listed a Downtown Tree Lighting for Monday, November 26, 2018, and a Celebrate the Lighting of the Trees for Monday, December 2, 2019, each from 6 to 7 pm on the 100 block of West Broad Street.
The Little City Holiday Market is listed for Saturday, December 12, 2026, from 3 to 9 pm on Little Falls Street between Broad Street and Park Avenue, and the listing calls it the inaugural market. Watch Night 2026, from the CATCH Foundation, is listed for Thursday, December 31, from 7 pm to midnight, with West Broad Street closed to traffic between North Maple Avenue and South Washington Street. The listings above were read on September 30, 2026, and dates can move. We are not organizers of any of these.
The City’s historic overlay district
The City Code’s Historic and Cultural Conservation district is a zoning overlay covering all land within the City’s boundaries. It applies to structures built as residences during or before 1910 and to structures designated under the code. The code’s division on the district never mentions lights, decorations or seasonal displays, so it is silent on holiday lighting, and this page does not say either way.
What the City’s housing looks like
The Census Bureau’s 2024 five-year estimates count 6,585 housing units in the City of Falls Church. Of those, about 46 percent are one-unit homes, detached or attached, and about 49 percent are in buildings of five or more units. Among the 2,910 occupied one-unit homes, about 43 percent were built between 1940 and 1959, and about 55 percent before 1960. These are estimates for a small city, and a call about lights can come from someone who owns a house or someone who manages a building.

What the job involves
Estimate. It is free, and it happens at your property.
Hang. Strands go up cut to the roofline and held by clips, with nothing nailed or screwed in. Installs run through December.
Repair and takedown. If a strand or section stops working partway through, a crew returns to repair it. Once the season is done, the lights come down and go into our storage.
When to call about a Falls Church install
We light homes and businesses inside the City of Falls Church. The best time to call is while you still have a first evening in mind, so the install is booked before that date arrives. A call later in the season is welcome too, because a house lit then has the same repairs and takedown as one lit at the start.
Falls Church holiday lighting, in brief
Is commercial property covered too?
Yes. Commercial holiday lighting is something we do.
What happens if part of the display goes dark?
A crew comes back out to repair the strand or section that stopped working.
Do I own the lights after I pay?
No. The arrangement is a lease by the season, the lights remain ours, and the storage between seasons is ours as well.
Are the crews employees, and do they carry insurance?
Our crews are our own employees. Workers’ compensation covers them, and we carry general liability insurance too. A certificate of insurance is available upon request.
